Parking in the city centre

If you are visiting the historic city centre of Salzburg and have parked your car in the Mönchsberg parking garage (please note: height limit 2m), you can have your ticket “validated” which means that you will pay only EUR 4.00 for up to 4 hours and EUR 6.00 for up to 8 hours.

Many businesses in the historic city centre will gladly “validate” your parking tickets. Our orange parking sticker marks stores, restaurants, etc. that “validate” parking. The Basteigasse parking structure and the Barmherzige Brüder parking garage offer a reduced evening ticket. If you arrive after 16.00 you will pay only EUR 3.00 with a “validated” ticket.

There are numerous parking opportunities in Salzburg on both sides of the Salzach River (Text in German) .

The Linzer Gasse garage offers the following discounts:

  • parking fee discounts available in many stores and restaurants on the right-hand side of the Salzach River.
  • discounts for hotel guests
  • -10% Card: ask retailers on the right-hand side of the Salzach River for the -10% Card for the Linzergasse garage. Insert it after your parking ticket and save 10%.
  • parking voucher: buy 100 parking hours (EUR 2.20/h) and save 10%.

Altstadt Euro

The "Altstadt-Euro", a voucher worth EUR 1.00, is a free give-away that many stores in the city centre offer their customers. It is accepted by all parking lots and garages.

8111 taxis also accept “Altstadt Euros”. “Altstadt Euros” are not redeemable in short-term parking zones. Ask for the “Altstadt Euro” and enjoy your stay in the city centre.
 

Park & Ride

P&R Messe (3000 spaces):
Combined ticket May - October & December: € 15.00 = parking fee + city bus day pass for up to 5 people.
The combined ticket is available only in the months stated above. The regular parking fee for 24 hours is € 15.00. Bus lines to the city centre: 1 and 8

In July & August 2017 you can park at P+R Messe (exit “Messe”) for free in combination with a bus return ticket. Then enjoy a comfortable ride on the bus No. 8 to the city center/ historic district. More Information.

P&R Süd (330 spaces): Combined ticket: € 14.00 = parking fee + city bus day pass for up to 5 people. Parking fee for 24 hours, all year round: € 5.00 Bus lines to the city centre: 3 and 8

P&R Designer Outlet (600 spaces): Combined ticket: € 15.00 = parking fee + city bus day pass for up to 5 People. Bus lines to the city centre: 2, 10 and 27

P&R Airport (400 spaces): Combined ticket July - September: € 15.00 = parking fee + city bus day pass for up to 5 people. Bus lines to the city centre: 2, 10 and 27

 

Biking

Together with Graz, Salzburg is one of the most biker-friendly cities in Austria. Bikers can ride through Salzburg on 183 km of cycling tracks and 28 clearly marked cycling routes. City Buses

The city of Salzburg has a very dense  network of bus lines. Almost all lines have 10-minute intervals. You can buy tickets in advance and save money. Tickets are available in packs of 5 at many kiosks and at the service centres of the city transport operator in the regional train station and at Alpenstraße 91.

Get home safe with the NachtStern on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before holidays. The bus line is active until 1 a.m. So you can go out without a designated driver.

Event ticket = bus ticket: The tickets for various events in the city of Salzburg are also valid as bus tickets.Tickets to the Salzburg State Theatre, for instance, are valid as bus tickets for the entire city centre bus network from two hours before the event until the bus lines stop operating.

Special offers for guests of the region

Tennengau-Ticket
Guests staying in the Tennengau region can get discount tickets to the city and back (€ 4.00 per route, € 2.00 for children) with the Tennengau Guest Card. The tickets are valid for rapid transit and buses.

ÖBB Einfach-Raus-Ticket
The “Einfach-Raus-Ticket” of the Austrian Railways (ÖBB) is a group ticket for 2 to 5 people and is valid on local and regional trains (R-trains, Rex-trains and rapid transit) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays throughout the day until 3.00 a.m. on the following day and from Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 a.m. on the following day. Regional day ticket for Bavaria
Guests who are coming to Salzburg on the German Railways (DB) can use the regional day ticket for Bavaria , which is priced at € 23.00 for one passenger (2nd class) and € 6.00 for each extra passenger. A regional day ticket can be used by up to 5 people and is valid from Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 a.m. on the following day and throughout the day on weekends, Bavarian state holidays, on 15 August and 24 and 31 December. With this ticket you can go to Salzburg Main Station without any additional charge. The regional night ticket for Bavaria is valid from 6.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. (7 a.m. on weekends, Bavarian state holidays, on 15 August and 24 and 31 December) and is priced at € 23.00 for one passenger plus € 3.00 for each extra passenger.
