Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac
Thaddaeus Ropac, born 1960 in Klagenfurt, founded the gallery with the same name in Salzburg in 1983 and specialized in contemporary European and North American painting and sculpture.
The first projects that attracted much attention came with exhibitions by artists such as Joseph Beuys, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, but also by then young, aspiring artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Jeff Koons. Today the gallery represents almost 60 artists, among them such well-known ones as Anselm Kiefer, Georg Baselitz, Tony Cragg, Antony Gormley and Alex Katz.
Villa Kast, Mirabellplatz 2, has been the gallery's headquarters in Salzburg since 1996. In the outbuildings Annex, Mirabellplatz 2a and Editions, Mirabellplatz 2b, exhibitions focusing on individual themes are displayed.
