Muse

Nils Wogram: trombone | Kathrin Pechlof: harp | Anna Maria Wünsch: viola | Hayden Chisholm: all-saxophone, overtone singing

Once again, trombonist Nils Wogram has broken new ground with his Muse quartet, founded in 2020. The line-up with harpist Kathrin Pechlof, violist Anna Maria Wünsch and Wogram's long-time companion Hayden Chisholm on saxophone is probably unique in music history. The result is modern, exciting chamber music with “an affinity for film, modern classical music, folk and jazz,” as Wogram describes it. Lyrical and poetic, but also exciting and thrilling. Which is why Wogram's quartet for the debut album, simply called “Muse”, won the German Jazz Prize for the best instrumental album in 2022. Now Muse can be experienced in Salzburg in the contemplative setting of the Capuchin monastery.

Muse

Over the past three decades, Nils Wogram has earned a reputation as one of the best and most versatile trombonists on the international jazz scene. At the same time, he is one of the busiest and most highly decorated German jazz musicians. As a long-time loyal companion of bassists Sebastian Gramms and Henning Sieverts and pianist Aki Takase, or as member of Jazzkantine. Above all with his own numerous projects, credited on over 30 albums, which he has always set up as long-term “working bands,” from several duos to Nostalghia and Root 70 ensembles to Muse and Vertigo Trombone Quartet. Wogram can be experienced in Salzburg not only with Muse, but also as an “Invites” host.
