Hochzeitskaplle (Wedding Band) invites featuring Micha and Markus Acher

Evi Keglmaier: viola & tuba | Mathias Götz: trombone | Micha Acher: trumpet & tuba | Alex Haas: banjo, double bass | Markus Acher: drums

In 2012, they came together from completely different musical backgrounds, literally as a wedding band: heads of “Weilheim Scene” Micha and Markus Acher (Alien Ensemble, The Notwist), trombonist Mathias Götz (one of the most sought-after bassists on the southern German jazz scene) banjo player Alex Haas (for whom the same applies) as well as violist and tubist Evi Keglmaier (Zwirbeldirn). With their quirky versions of material from all genres, including Caribbean and Japanese, they became one of the most sought-after bands at the interface between folk and world music, pop and improvisation. Always on the road with changing line-ups and guests, they are also ideal candidates for the Salzburg “Invites” series.

Hochzeitskapelle

When they came together as a wedding band in 2012 to mark the wedding of friends, it was actually supposed to be a one-off affair. Their members, trombonist Mathias Götz (one of the most sought-after bassists on the southern German jazz scene), banjo player Alex Haas (for whom the same applies) and violist and tubist Evi Keglmaier (Zwirbeldirn) plus, last but not least, the heads of “Weilheim Scene” Micha and Markus Acher (Alien Ensemble, The Notwist), were too busy with their own and other projects. But their own musical joy and the audience’s enthusiasm proved to be overwhelming: Since then, Hochzeitskapelle – which was awarded the German Film Prize in 2019 for its “Wackersdorf” soundtrack – with its "Rumpeljazz" has been one of the most sought-after bands at the interface between folk and world music, pop and improvisation.
