Klima Kalima

When the Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima moved to Berlin more than 20 years ago, he found the first like-minded people for his trio in double-bass player Oliver Potratz and drummer Oliver Steidle. Since then, the trio Klima Kalima has been on a musical journey from rock, blues and folk to free jazz which always sounds out the players’ boundaries of musical possibilities and which has, not least through a humorous, quirky Finnish characteristic, developed its very own sound. The reward for all this has been the highest praise for their five albums and prizes including the New German Jazz Award. The new project “Voyagers Blues” is inspired by the space probe of the same name. The band offers a soundtrack to an imaginary film on the dying and increasingly lonely probes.
