Founded 18 years ago on a balmy February evening, Django Partie spans a broad musical spectrum: In addition to popular gypsy swing hits, the repertoire of these four musicians ranges from jazz standards, bossa nova and musette waltzes to pop and soul classics. They also give a full-throated rendition of some German swing hits from yesteryear. The “Django moment” emerges after just a few bars and is based, among others, on the incomparable style of the famous “Quintette du Hot Club de France” with Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli – the lively and joyful swing sounds of the 1930s and 40s.
