Patricia Brennan & Sylvie Courvoisier (MEX, FRA)
Mexican-born vibraphonist, marimbist, improviser and composer Patricia Brennan “has been widely feted as one of the instrument's newer leaders” writes The New York City Jazz Record. Patricia won the Best Vibraphonist award in Downbeat magazine's 70th (2022) and 72nd (2024) Critics’ Polls and placed fourth as Vibraphonist of the Year in the 71st (2023) and 72nd (2024) Critics’ Polls.
In the late 1990s, love (for violinist Mark Feldman) brought Sylvie Courvoisier to New York, where the pianist quickly became a fixture in the downtown experimental scene and, among others, was a long-standing performer at John Zorn's experimental club “The Stone”. The Lausanne-born musician has recorded over 50 albums for renowned labels since that time, including Enja, ECM, Intakt and Tzadik in various line-ups (including with Mark Feldman, Ellery Eskelin and Lucas Niggli); a truly massive output for someone still only in her 40s.
