Peter Herbert, Helene Glüxam, Tobias Vedovelli (AUT)
Peter Herbert
The person responsible for Peter Herbert's decision to choose the bass as his instrument over free climbing as a career is none other than Keith Jarrett. A concert by the virtuoso pianist struck him like a bolt of lightning. Since then, Herbert has moved between continents (he studied in Boston and lived in New York and Paris) and styles. This 2001 Hans Koller Award winner (Musician of the Year) not only gives solo performances, but also prefers to play in duos (with David Tronzo, Carol Robinson) or his Parisian trio with Chris Culpo (piano) and Jean-Charles Richard (saxophone). He is a popular sideman who has played in various jazz line-ups including the Marc Copland/John Abercrombie Quartet and Bobby Previte's “The Horse”. Peter Herbert has captured his now almost infinite wide range of projects in more than 120 albums.
Helene Glüxam
Bassist Helene Glüxam is a stylistically versatile musician who excels in diverse musical contexts. She tackles both global music (Kurdophone) and experimental pop, which she explores in exciting ways with the HALM quartet which ventures into jazz and improvisation.
Tobias Vedovelli
Bassist Tobias was originally from Hohenems and now lives in Vienna. He studied with Peter Herbert, among others, and can look back over collaborations with numerous artists including Ben Wendel, Dhafer Youssef, Django Bates, Thomas Gansch, Wolfgang Puschnig, Michael Moore, the Koehne Quartet and David Helbock, and many other national and international concert performances in Europe.
