Andreas Tentschert – Prepared Piano FX
In Andreas Tentschert’s solo program, John Cage meets Nils Frahm and Herbie Hancock. The immersive sonic landscapes he creates live are rooted in Cage’s concept of the prepared piano, yet are expanded through effects processing and live sampling. The result is a sound world that reaches far beyond the instrument’s familiar palette while always remaining grounded in the piano’s natural acoustic character.

Andreas Tentschert is a jazz pianist whose musical journey has taken him through Linz, Vienna, Barcelona, and New York before returning to his native Tyrol. For almost a decade, he has been teaching jazz piano at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he also serves as Head of the Jazz Department.
With his open-minded approach to music—bridging acoustic jazz and electronic beats, free improvisation and groove-oriented styles—Tentschert has become an important voice on the contemporary jazz scene. Alongside performances with artists including Nina “Fiva” Sonnenberg, Mono & Nikitaman, Blumentopf, Anna F., Pete York, Manu Delago, Florian Bramböck, and Joseph Bowie, he has also composed music for and performed live in numerous theatre, dance, and film productions.
