Bab L' Bluz
“More than anything, we’re a rock band,” Bab L’ Bluz say of themselves. Yet their music is so much more: poetic, powerful, and boundary-defying, the band has created a constantly evolving sonic universe. Armed with electrified guembris, they fuse Gnawa trance rhythms, Hassani songs from southern Morocco, and Chaâbi polyrhythms with the expansive textures of psychedelic rock and hypnotic soundscapes.
“It’s funky, it’s soulful, it’s traditional and it’s modern,” wrote the press. Since their formation, the dynamic quartet has toured the world, captivating audiences with hypnotic riffs and a mystical, liberating energy that has become the band’s unmistakable signature.

Bab L' Bluz is a French-Moroccan band founded in Marrakesh in 2018, following the meeting of Moroccan singer and guitarist Yousra Mansour and French guitarist and producer Brice Bottin. United by a deep passion for Gnawa music, they began learning the guembri—the traditional three-stringed bass lute—together, developing a distinctive musical language that blends the hypnotic loops of sacred Gnawa music, Saharan poetry, and the raw, unbridled energy of fuzz rock and blues.
Bab L' Bluz is part of Morocco’s Nayda movement, a new wave of artists drawing inspiration from their cultural heritage while expressing messages of freedom in Darija, the Moroccan Arabic dialect.
