Jordina Millà & Agusti Fernández

The duo’s joint album, When Forests Dream, features eight relatively short pieces, ranging from just under three to nine minutes, offering a glimpse of where their Salzburg performance might lead. As Maciej Lewenstein writes: “Each individual track is highly distinctive, both in terms of the techniques employed and the sonic palette created. Each is a masterpiece of free improvisation in general and prepared-piano music in particular.” He continues: “What you find here is so beautiful, so captivating in its shifting moods and atmospheres, so colorful in its changing techniques and approaches, so abstract and open, yet at the same time so lyrical. It is hard to believe that something like this could have been created.”

Jordina Millà & Agusti Fernández (ESP)

Pianist and improviser Jordina Millà, grounded in a strong classical piano background and driven by relentless curiosity, emerged from Barcelona’s vibrant scene and has grown into an active voice in Austria’s dynamic musical landscape. She will share the stage with Agustí Fernández, internationally regarded as one of the pioneers of the contemporary avant-garde “post-pianism” and a leading figure in Austria’s music scene. Their performance brings together two adventurous piano improvisers and artists of our time. On stage: one piano. The rules: a blank sheet of paper.
