“I was never really the type for easy-listening music,” LYLIT recently said in an interview with mica. As a child, she listened to Mahler and Brahms—not because it was expected of her, but because “I have always been drawn to the weight and intensity of music.”
With her new album Her, released in early 2026, the award-winning singer-songwriter opens another chapter in her versatility and artistic authenticity. The album presents clear, compelling compositions shaped by a concentrated sonic world of voice, string quartet, and piano. “I wanted to create something that feels more intimate—essentially just piano and voice.”
Within this focused core of her musical expression lies a space where emotion, language, and sound merge into an intimate and unfiltered presence.
The fact that one of the finest jazz and soul singers—who also has strong ties to Salzburg, having been born in Oberndorf near Salzburg and serving as a lecturer in jazz and pop vocals at the Mozarteum University—will perform one of her rare Salzburg appearances on the opening night of Jazz&theCity 2026 fills the entire JTC team with particular pride.
