Quer_Beet: Scurheim feat. Lorenz Widauer
Scurheim creates a sound that fuses chopped-up old-school samples, vibey synth textures, deep 808s, and tight drum grooves, while leaving plenty of room for the spontaneity of live collaboration.
Artist
Scurheim feat. Lorenz Widauer (AUT)
Scurheim is a collective from Salzburg and Surheim that blends hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul, and future beats. At its core are multi-instrumentalists and producers Maximilian Rehrl, Paul Widauer, and Ferdinand Rauchmann, who regularly collaborate with international artists both in the studio and on stage.
Salzburg trumpeter Lorenz Widauer is one of the great talents of Austria’s music scene. And not just the jazz scene—Widauer is equally at home in classical music. He began his musical journey as a classical pianist before switching to trumpet and studying with renowned teachers in Innsbruck, Vienna, and Amsterdam. Whether Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, Gershwin, or complex jazz improvisations, the Joe Zawinul Award and Hubert von Goisern Culture Prize winner has mastered it all. He demonstrates his versatility in Christian Muthspiel’s Orjazztra Vienna, saxophonist Yvonne Moriel’s sweetlife:quartet, and his own projects Chez Fría, as well as an acoustic and an electro quintet. He is sure to bring that same versatility to the “Invites” series at Jazz&TheCitysounds.
