One of hilde's great strengths is their ability to find completely unexpected, sometimes downright daring links between abstract sonic invention and traditional grace. This rare gift is most evident in their live performances. For their new album the quartet has consciously decided to shift this balance considerably toward experimental sensuality. It hardly matters who contributes each playful impulse, timbre, composition or spontaneous idea. Four musicians merge into one person, hilde, an individual with four heads and eight arms that confronts the audience with massive gentleness.

Four musicians, one musical entity: hilde's music oscillates somewhere between chamber music and free pop. “A beautiful demonstration of how harmonious and beautiful improvisation can sound today” is how Jazzthing magazine described it. “We like beautiful things” hilde then exclaims in unison. For this ensemble, improvisation is an expression of freedom where nothing is excluded, and anything is allowed. The foundation for this intuitive unity is more profound than the trust that generally exists in a band. It is based on a confident reliability rarely experienced in such an indestructible form, which gives each of the four musicians the sense of security they need to push themselves to limit as hilde and to always access their inner core – and vice versa.
