Hiram Salsano (ITA)

Hiram Salsano has established herself as the young “old” voice of Campania. Her music celebrates the traditional music of southern Italy, particularly that of her home region in the Cilento Mountains, south and east of Naples. She has found a brilliant counterpart in the ethnologist Marcello De Carolis, who accompanies her on the chitarra battente, a percussion guitar typical of the region. The duo explores the impressive yet mysterious sounds and rhythms of southern Italy, seemingly playfully moving between the celebration of old songs and contemporary sounds generated by loop stations.
