Benjamin Schmid invites: Mozarteum University Strings
The two artistic directors of the Flavourama Festival, Olivia Mitterhuemer and Farah Deen, will surprise audiences at Jazz&TheCity with a pop-up performance to live music at KajetanThe soloist is the violist Jacinta Balbontín Odi, originally from Chile and Mexico, who studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and is currently continuing her studies with Professor Muriel Razavi at the University Mozarteum. She is a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and has performed under conductors such as Jonathan Nott, Ingo Metzmacher, Gottfried von der Goltz, and Sir Mark Elder. Festival appearances have taken her to, among others, the Edinburgh International Festival, the Sion Festival with the Ilumina Ensemble, the Vevey Spring Classic, and the Menuhin Academy.

With around 3,000 live concerts worldwide, Benjamin Schmid has established himself not only as one of the most important violinists of our time but also as a professor at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, giving masterclasses at the University of the Arts Bern, and serving as the artistic director of the Kulturvereinigung. As a soloist, he has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra London, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. For Jazz&TheCity 2025, he has curated his own special concert evening.erplatz, bringing the energy of Hip Hop and House dance to life.
