Jan Jelinek (GER)
Jan Jelinek's music is difficult to define conceptually but can best be described as a mixture of clicks and cuts, electronica, intelligent dance music, glitch and microsound. Jelinek creates exciting sonic collages in his live performances, from small sound fragments produced with a wide variety of instruments (cassette recorders, samplers, media players). These collages are based on repetitive loops and distil the originals they reference down to their essence.

Artist
Jan Jelinek (GER)
Jan Jelinek is a musician, producer and remixer who started out as a record collector. He initially collected jazz, dub, funk and soul, but eventually discovered house music and began creating his own compositions; a form of translation of the sounds he loves and largely based on samples. However, he doesn't use them as recognisable quotations and, as they are so removed from the original, the sources of the samples he uses aren’t always easily identifiable. He transforms the material of his sources, whether pop, jazz or soul, into abstract, reduced textures.
