Peter Herbert
The best mark of quality of any musician is when, after two bars, you can say: “That's Chet Baker” or: “That can only be Wayne Shorter”. This is precisely the case with Peter Herbert, a towering figure on the Austrian jazz scene. He has, of course, developed a style entirely his own during his career, which has given him his unmistakable sound. 19 years after the legendary solo album “Naked Bass I”, he has now released a worthy successor, “Naked Bass II” (Unit Records). “The solo pieces are a lifelong work in progress,” he says, “a constant and eternal exploration of the instrument.” He has deliberately avoided any edits or corrections for the new Naked Bass album. “This is 1:1 as it happened.” It will be the same live: 1:1 as it happened.
Helene Glüxam
The solo set of this Viennese artist focuses on her instrument, the double bass, combining its low notes with her high vocals; a contrast that creates a massive tension. Her minimalist tone and unconventional playing techniques create stylistically diverse compositions that develop their own unique expression and intimate resonance and defy any place in a conventional musical category. Her music conveys intense moods that express a very unique kind of song and unfold a deep and rich atmosphere.
Tobias Vedovelli
As a composer, Tobias Vedovelli creates rhythmically diverse soundscapes that can develop in multiple directions, from dubstep to free improvisation. The result is a sound that is nevertheless compact, and which flows organically. One of his major aims in terms of composition is to achieve a harmonious balance between detailed, large-scale forms on the one hand, and space for their interpretation and execution and the integration of improvisation as an equal element, on the other. His compositional language is characterised by a modern, rhythm-based, odmeter-heavy jazz approach.

Peter Herbert
The person responsible for Peter Herbert's decision to choose the bass as his instrument over free climbing as a career is none other than Keith Jarrett. A concert by the virtuoso pianist struck him like a bolt of lightning. Since then, Herbert has moved between continents (he studied in Boston and lived in New York and Paris) and styles. This 2001 Hans Koller Award winner (Musician of the Year) not only gives solo performances, but also prefers to play in duos (with David Tronzo, Carol Robinson) or his Parisian trio with Chris Culpo (piano) and Jean-Charles Richard (saxophone). He is a popular sideman who has played in various jazz line-ups including the Marc Copland/John Abercrombie Quartet and Bobby Previte's “The Horse”. Peter Herbert has captured his now almost infinite wide range of projects in more than 120 albums.
Helene Glüxam
Bassist Helene Glüxam is a stylistically versatile musician who excels in diverse musical contexts. She tackles both global music (Kurdophone) and experimental pop, which she explores in exciting ways with the HALM quartet which ventures into jazz and improvisation.
