Pulsar Trio

The heart of the Potsdam Pulsar Trio lies in Calcutta which is where the pianist Beate Wein got to know the sitar player Matyas Wolter during his annual visit to India in 2007. Back in Germany, they started to combine the piano and sitar as well as their second instruments, a novation bass station and a surbahar. They were joined by the drummer Aaron Christ and the Pulsar Trio was complete. This unique line-up alone as well as their rousing, sheer joy in playing and boldness of their compositions which, with their very own structures creates a whole new sound aesthetic, makes the winners of the Creole World Music Prize 2014 truly unique in the German music industry. In fact, they are so progressive that they have even been compared to the successful British trio Gogo Penguin.
